Everything I Loved This Week Volume 2
We are gladly winding down toward the end of a very, very challenging year. In a lot of ways, our family has been very lucky. We have not lost any income, though our business did struggle in the early days of the pandemic, which forced my husband to look for and eventually start working for a new company.
But, here we are, at the end of the year… healthy, alive, and happy.
The last week has been hectic as I prepared to take the last week of the year off. I am going to try my hardest to unplug and not check my work email fanatically but I struggle with that, even moreso since I have been working from home.
Here are some of the things that caught my eye this week:
This NYT story of a woman whose daughter was kidnapped for ransom by Mexico gangs and eventually murdered is heartbreaking and will pull on any mother’s heart and force them to ask themselves, "what would I do if I were in her shoes…” For me? I can only hope I would brave enough to do exactly what she did.
My Notorious Necklace arrived last week. I am in loooove with it.
For Christmas breakfast, we indulged ourselves and made A Cozy Kitchen’s overnight cinnamon rolls. So easy and so yummy.
We had an amazing summer vacation planned before COVID hit. We were planning to fly to Denver and then take a road trip from Denver through Utah and Nevada, hitting several national parks along the way. We canceled that trip and decided to reschedule our family trip for Spring Break of 2021 and switched to road-tripping from Seattle to San Francisco. We haven’t canceled that trip yet, and will if things still seem unsafe. This article from The Atlantic gave me hope that when we take our trip (late March) we will be in a different situation.
The Undoing finale caught me by surprise. I have seen others say that they were disappointed but what happened but I spent the entire season pointing fingers at everyone else, so I was not prepared for the show to take the turn it did. Let’s all take a deep sigh of relief that it is just a show, and celebrate the true sexy essence of Hugh Grant. Four Weddings and a Funeral is peak Hugh for me.
The Pharma Bro and the Journalist probably snuck its way into your reading material last week too. If not, prepare yourself to be sucked in… and once you’re done with that, read the update.
Have a great new year friends.
